The color orange comes in many different shades and requires careful experimentation for choosing the right one. Some orange colors have more red in them. Some have more yellow. Ours has more of a terra-cotta cast to it. Let your orange be your guide when picking out fall decor for the front door.
Our front door is painted Copper Wire (Sherwin-Williams) for two reasons: we are University of Virginia fans and because our dogs like to leave orange clay paw prints on the door. I literally took a paint stick with dried mud on it for the paint store to match it.
It did not occur to me at the time, but painting the front door orange set the perfect backdrop for autumn, football season, Halloween and Thanksgiving.
For this post, I'm supporting Etsy sellers and finding their best fall decor ideas for an entryway with an orange front door. Let's get decorating!
Wonderful Wreaths
A fall wreath is a must-have! Look for warm earth tone colors, pinecones, berries, mini pumpkins, and acorns to accent the orange color of the door.
I really like this one by SeasonWreathInc. The colorful berries and silvery green eucalyptus leaves would look lovely on my orange front door.
Similar in colors, this wreath by SprigandVineWreaths has a fuller appearance and also would look beautiful against my autumn orange door color.
If you have an orange front door, consider the following wreath that I found on Etsy. WreathsbyHaeley created this incredible autumn wreath with rust and green foliage and acorn accents. It is stunning!
Welcome Autumn with a Welcome Mat
Before you walk into your home, step onto a perfect fall doormat. This one by CreatYourOwnGift has the right amount of orange to accent our front door.
Or if you prefer a personalized doormat for the fall, try this one from SimpleStylesforYou. I really like the pumpkins and name personalization.
Fall Plant Containers
This might be one of my favorite seasonal decor updates: swapping out the summer plants in the containers with autumn ones. I have a tall planter by my orange front door with a Lemon Cypress plant as the focal point. I swap the small plants around its base with each season. Coleus and heuchera add a nice autumn color next to a yellow chrysanthemum. In my other containers, I add heuchera with different leaf colors and variegation. Since they are perennial in our zone 8a, I will move them to my flower beds later.
To bump up the fall appearance, I also add some decor items like faux baby gourds, dried lotus pods or small grapevine pumpkins like above.
If you don't have the ability or the desire to make your own fall planters, consider one of these premade faux containers from Etsy sellers like WestcoveTreasures who provides a drop in arrangement. Plop it into your own planter, no water, no fertilizer-so easy! I believe these would do best on a covered porch entryway protected from the elements.
I also love this drop in arrangement by Wreath4everyseason. My orange front door has more copper than red color in it, and I think the faux flowers would complement it nicely.
Porch Seating
Sitting on the front porch in the fall is a welcome relief from the hot humid summer days. Time to swap out the pillows from bright sunny colors to warm earth tones. I keep my seasonal throw pillows in clear plastic tubs in the basement, but simply changing pillow covers would be a big space saver. ElfhinayHomeDecor has this adorable collection of fall pillow covers that would coordinate with my Copper Wire front door and add a touch of whimsy to my entryway when guests arrive.
Faux Pumpkins
Finally, what is a fall entryway without pumpkins? I love to incorporate real ones in my decorating, but the climate in our area provides only a small window of opportunity to display them before they begin to mold. Therefore, I add faux pumpkins to extend the fall season. This metal self standing set by Precisionsteel is perfect for my orange front door.
An orange front door is a vibrant entry point to your home, and with the right fall decor, you can create a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the beauty of the season. Get creative and mix different elements to find the perfect balance that showcases your style. Happy decorating!
